Our Aim

We aim to "Take The Hassle out of feed … Australia Wide". The customer is the most important person in our business. We provide a wide range of bulk feed and specialise in hay. Taking the hassle out of hay for our customers involves delivering quality hay, as described, on time, first time, every time.

Background

Feed Central was formed by Tim Ford several years ago, after almost 20 years of family farming in the Riverina, Northern New South Wales and the Maranoa (QLD). A principal product grown throughout this time was grain and hay, which was marketed to dairy farms, feedlots and graziers or used to feed on farm during dry times.

Farming experience in both southern and northern Australia, combined with extensive travel to agricultural regions in all states has resulted in an exceptional understanding of growing and market conditions in all parts of the country.

Today we concentrate solely on the marketing of feed products, including grain, meals, cotton seed but specialising in hay and straw. We market a high volume of product and consider that we play an integral role in ensuring the sustainability of our rural industries and communities.

Our specialty is in presenting feed on-line in a way that allows end-users, to understand the quality attributes of all product presented and determine best value for their operation.

In addition, we have extensive freight networks and, due to the volume of product moved, we are able to achieve economical transport efficiencies without compromising the viability of transport operators.

We are predominately web based therefore our business has no geographic boundaries. We have growers and end users in every major agricultural district in the country.

This web site gives the customers the opportunity to price hay based on feed analysis - eg: units of energy / cents per kg. However deals are generally done on a $ per tonne basis.We offer long term contracts to help minimise price fluctuations and to ensure set quality standards for several months in advance.

Suppliers Perspective

Feed Central sources product direct from professional producers and suppliers. When extreme seasonal and market conditions occur, there are often large volumes of hay and feed produced that has come from other sources. This may occur due to drought, frost etc. In these conditions we work closely with the supplier to implement our quality systems and to find the best market for the product.

Feed Central guarantees the payment.
We grade all products. In relation to hay we have our own standards and grading system. In relation to grain we use industry accepted standards, including NACMA standards.

Feed Central offers your produce to our extensive customer base across all states and territories. On many occasions we will sell the products within your local area. However, often the product may be transported several hundred kilometres to the best suited market.

Feed Central takes the hassle out of marketing your feed products. We let you concentrate on maximising your yields and quality while we work on marketing, paperwork, transport and payment. The end result is improved returns. All for the cost of a local call.

Freight

Feed Central organises freight for all product sold. We have an excellent network of freight companies, strategically located across country. Due to the volume of product moved and the strong commercial relationships we have with the transporters, we can deliver hay at highly cost-effective rates.

Our efficiencies in freight allow us to be highly price-competitive without compromising returns to the supplier or jeopardising the viability of the transport company.

Administration

Our business is enhanced by having excellent administration staff and systems to monitor each contract carefully. Our customers agree to strict trading terms which are vigorously enforced.

This web site is part of our established administrative systems and we have preference for dealings to be done on-line. We are continually upgrading the web site and to integrate it with our administration systems.

Payment Terms

Each deal is different. On some occasions we operate on a cash or prepayment basis. We always have our accounts fully paid to our suppliers within 30 days of delivery.

All payments are made directly to the supplier's bank account to ensure clear funds are available quickly. The success of our business has been built, in part, on always paying our accounts within the trading terms specified on the contract.

Contracts

All contracts are written based on the National Agricultural Commodity Marketing Association (NACMA) recommended format.

We do everything possible to avoid disputes. However, in the unfortunate event of a dispute arising from a contract the (NACMA) recommended dispute resolution process will be adopted. If the Feed Central contract does not adequately cover the issue in question, the NACMA Trade Rules will apply.
