Delivering Locally and NationallyTrusted, Reliable Transport travelling locally and nationally

Feed Central has dedicated carriers, sub-contract to transport the hay on our behalf.

Carriers are generally small family companies, who can commit to the same level of service as Feed Central.

While each have local links, they work wide areas, carting hay for Feed Central nationally.

We take road safety very seriously and never push our drivers to deliver within unrealistic or unreasonable time frames. We trust that you will do the same.

All regular carriers and their drivers are certified Feed Central Hay Inspectors. This means our drivers undergo regular training, which complements their practical experience.

Of course each line of hay is inspected prior to sale, therefore the drivers act as a double check - moisture testing and visually checking the hay as it is loaded. Drivers will report any issues to Head Office.

Feed Central’s minimum order is one full trailer load.
We use a variety of trucks and trailer sizes as below.

During peak times we do require the services of additional carriers, some of which become long term Feed Central carriers. In this case we rotate certified drivers into the pick-up farm to regularly monitor quality.

Feed Central carriers invest heavily, in dedicated hay transport equipment.

Dropdeck trailers, b-double, road trains (doubles and triples) combinations are utilised to minimise freight cost. After all, the more hay on the trailer the cheaper the delivered cost.

The rising price of fuel is presenting a major challenge to the fodder industry. As trucks charge the same amount per kilometre, regardless of loaded weight, it is critical to optimise load weights (within state authority guidelines).

Feed Central Transport

In Feed Central’s system, growers are strongly encouraged to bale large square bales and to "pack them tight". As demonstrated in the Feed Central Bale Size Fact Sheet, heavy bales represent big savings to buyers, sellers and carriers.
