The Feed Central Quality Assurance Package combines a professional on-farm inspection by one of our certified inspectors with an in-lab feed test to give buyers the information they need to purchase with confidence.

On-Farm inspections
One of our certified inspectors will visit your property to assess your hay against Feed Central’s trusted standards and verify key production and farm information such as crop maturity at cutting and curing details. This includes:
- Checking bale condition, size, weight, and average moisture reading across bales
- Assessing variability and consistency within the lot
- Assessing colour, leaf retention, and aroma
- Identifying contaminants such as weeds or foreign material
- Confirming storage conditions and presentation
Your inspection also includes Feed Central’s Visual Grading. This grade is determined by a series of physical characteristics of the hay and summarised into a clear, market-recognised grade. Our fuel guage is designed to give buyers a guide to the quality of the product.
A detailed inspection report is created, providing an independent assessment.
In-Lab Feed Test
As part of the inspection process, our certified inspector will take a representative sample of your hay and send it to our accredited laboratory for NIR (Near Infrared) testing. This testing measures key nutritional values, including:
- Protein
- Metabolisable Energy (ME)
- Neutral Detergent Fibre (NDF)
- Moisture content
These results are displayed on your LocalAg listing, and buyers can filter search results by these specifications, helping them quickly find the hay that suits their livestock’s requirement.
Once your hay has been inspected and tested, it is issued with a Quality Assurance Certificate. This document, attached to your LocalAg listing, confirms your product’s specifications and visual grade, giving buyers confidence before they enquire.
The package is $490. Some lots may qualify for free Quality Assurance if they meet all of the following criteria:
- 100+ Mt of Lucerne
- 200+ Mt of Cereal Hay
- Shedded
- Large square bales
